BUENOS AIRES, 18 The president of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, met this morning with the emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al-Thani, with whom he signed agreements on tourism, science and technology at the beginning of the Bachelet's official visit to this country. Fernandez de Kirchner was received at the emir's palace next to the Planning Minister Julio de Vido, the Science and Technology, Lino Barañao, and foreign, Hector Timerman.
The emir and the president held a meeting of about thirty minutes. The two leaders signed agreements on culture, science and technology, tourism and international cooperation. Another issue to address was the business partnerships between both countries and industrial agreements. One of them deals with the development and implementation of energy integration projects, to facilitate exchange Argentina and Qatar liquefied natural gas.
For his part, Minister Timerman, said Tuesday that Qatar "are ready" to invest in the country, and stated that it will sign "three or four contracts" with the Arab country. "What became clear is that Qatar has the means to invest and are looking for exactly what Argentina has to offer," Timerman said.
It is expected that tomorrow the president comes to visit Turkey in a "state" although not confirmed the meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to the newspaper "Clarín".
