EU would like to disappear UN report on Gaza

The U.S. ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice, said today that he would like to 'disappear' a report on Israel's attack on Palestine 2008-2009, but said he can not be modified, although the author admits 'mistakes'. "I'm not sure we can fix 'the report said Rice to appear before the Appropriations Subcommittee of the House of Representatives, in relation to the report by South African judge Richard Goldstone Cast Lead operation.

In the report on the offensive against the Gaza Strip took place between December 2008 and January 2009, which caused the deaths of 13 Israelis and Palestinians, 400, Goldstone said that Israel and the Hamas fundamentalist group, were guilty of war crimes . 'What we see is that (the report) disappears and is no longer a matter of discussion and debate on the Human Rights Council of the United Nations General Assembly (UN) and beyond, "he added.

Israel has urged the UN to cancel the report by South African jurist. Last week, Goldstone wrote in The Washington Post that the Israeli research on the operation in the Gaza Strip, indicated that civilians had been attacked intentionally, and that if I had that information before the report had been 'different '.

The previous day the U.S. President, Barack Obama, said that "it is more urgent than ever" to revive the stalled peace process between Palestine and Israel. During his hearing, Rice said the United States considered the report "deeply wrong" since it was published. When asked about the possibility that the Palestinians seek UN recognition of Palestine as an independent state, Rice said the organization could adopt a resolution, but that does not create a viable state.

'A viable state can only be established through direct negotiations between the parties, "he stressed.
