RIO DE JANEIRO, April 7. The Health Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro has confirmed the deaths of ten children in the attack Thursday at a school district Realengo that left eleven dead, including nine girls aged between 12 and 14 years old , the official Agencia Brasil. The assailant is an alumnus of 23 years identified as Wellington Menezes de Oliveira.
According to initial accounts, the dead man broke in the local school Tasso da Silveira, located in the neighborhood of Realengo, west of the city of Rio de Janeiro, around 0830 hours (1330 hours in mainland Spain). Menezes de Oliveira committed suicide after being shot in the leg by a policeman who arrived on the scene in the middle of shooting, as confirmed by a prosecutor. An employee of Porto Rafael name Dorival has told O Globo that the murderer came to school, "saying it would give a lecture and went to a classroom of eighth grade, which is on the first floor and began shooting."
