Repressed Iraqi police shot thousands of people in the southern Iraqi city of Al Diwaniya, demonstrating in the streets to demand better living conditions and job opportunities, causing one death and at least four wounded. The facts were registered in the district of Al-Hamza, Al Diwaniya, 180 km south of Baghdad, after police tried to stop the advance of the protesters who threw stones and outraged other objects at the police.
Police fired randomly hundreds of protesters in the district of Al-Hamza to contain the violence, killing one person and injuring four others, according to a report from Al Arabiya. The agency Aswat al-Iraq reported that at least three thousand people took to the streets of Diwaniya to demand that the authorities better living conditions, basic services and more employment opportunities.
Protesters threw stones at police, burned tires and blocked the main road of the district for more than two hours while authorities arrested several protesters. The incident came a day after the Iraqi parliament issued a statement condemning the use of violence against demonstrators in Egypt and urged the Arab country's authorities to respect human rights.
