Italian poetry is out, after all

On this very blog, on March 31, Francesco Di Bernardo urged, with a post entitled "A Literature of the Diaspora for the Italians, the development of a literary production that could give voice" to the new migration of young Italians. "I received many comments by Francis show that among the readers of the blog is a keen interest in this proposal.

Moreover, in this perspective we were working a few months ago we, through the group that we formed in early 2011, just with the intention of giving visibility to a few young writers who live in London and write from within the state socio-cultural dispatrio. This term seems particularly appropriate to indicate the experience somewhat alienating to those who emigrate and feels the need to get a sense of sharing related to their language and culture of origin.

Farewell to the legendary fish traps

The Corporation of the City of London revoke licenses for the discharge of old Billingsgate fish market after 135 years. The Labour Party is split, between the reformists and those who uphold the tradition of "working class" in Britain. Constantinos Camilleri works at the fish market of Billingsgate, London, for 52 years.

Half Italian and half greek, proudly displays a medal on his battered white uniform. Plays its historical profession - trap - and his license number. Like the other traps on the market, about 100, Constantinos is at loggerheads with the Corporation of the City of London has decided to revoke their business licenses.

Srebrenica, not to forget

If someone had forgotten the crimes of Ratko Mladic, for example, the systematic massacre of civilians in Srebrenica 7000 (made under the eyes and the indirect complicity of UN peacekeepers and the international community), we highly recommend the beautiful and terrible documentary of 1999 A Cry From The Grave, by Leslie Woodhead, for the most part composed of footage shot during the events.

Colonies blessed with Netanyahu

At-Tuwani is in the southern West Bank, occupied by generous and hospitable Palestinians living under Israeli military occupation and oppression of the continuous harassment of the settlers of the settlements that arise at a stone's throw of the village, from the bush where there are the container of an outpost (the method used by settlers to expand more and more the settlement).

Only two days ago, the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the United States, denied the possibility of a Palestinian state within the '67 borders (as advocated by Obama) and reaffirmed the waiver to the colonies. It can think about how you want, but you can not deny the objective difficulty of creating a state with neighboring parts of the country internally.

Strauss-Kahn: Hell in a room

The room of the Rikers Dominique Strauss-Kahn of New York has nothing to do with that three-thousand dollars of the Sofitel. Why Rikers is a jail, the real ones, with reveille at 6, lunch and dinner at 5 to 11. Nothing hour meetings and "free" day. A hell as all hell behind bars. Or at least, how can I imagine myself, I feel suffocated at the thought of not being able to look up and see the sky, whenever they felt like it.

Ireland, among flowers and bombs get the queen

For weeks, in Ireland the facades of the buildings are repainted, the beds filled with flowers, resurfaced roads, imposing giant screens placed high on the main streets. Members of the National Guard with suits, diver descend into the sewers to see if someone has placed bombs or has left evidence of doing so.

In designated places, staff are searched and inspected every corner, polished, secured. In neighborhoods, the streets, the restaurants offer a "menu real" discounts and days you work to achieve the street party in which to celebrate: for many Irish this week there will be a day off in more.

Strauss-Kahn and arrogance of power

Must be provided even with the worst enemies and therefore it must be hoped that the defamatory allegations against Dominique Strauss Kahn prove to be unfounded. Unfortunately for him, however, it seems that this is not the super manager and the rest on other occasions had indicated some willingness to make use of women's bodies regardless of the consent of the unfortunate for whom he directed his "attention".

Strauss-Kahn, America and the essential truths

I believe that the most serious faults of the Italians are the intellectual and moral. In particular, all one: the violence to the truth. Italians more than all the others believe that they can "bend" the truth at will. We are the people who more than any other is prone to "Cara is not as it seems." And, with regard to serious matters, we are the people of the "creative financing" of the tricks of the budget, the substantial decriminalization of false accounting, construction of amnesties and tax.

Strauss-Kahn Berlusconi plagued by

Today we talk about elections because we can talk better next week, we talk about what's going on in one of the most important and powerful organizations in the world, the International Monetary Fund, whose general manager is in jail for three days of rape, sexual assault and criminal side. Her name is Dominique Strauss-Kahn, a Socialist is very bourgeois French, long active politics behind him, he was ready to announce his candidacy for president after the French socialist disaster of recent years, the man he should have been levied on the beat , in a year, Sarkozy, and instead end of everything, the end of his career to the IMF, have already packed up, sent away and replaced, the end of every political ambitions forever, though it will end this trial for rape who will the United States against him.

A trip to Tunis to save democracy

Not that bombers Djema el Fna succeed in their efforts to undermine the arrival of tourists in Morocco. So far in these first months of 2011 Morocco was the very nation that has best withstood the drop in tourists in the Arab and North African countries in general. And after the attack there was no escape for tourists, a sign that maybe it will be interpreted for what it is: a very serious incident but is not able to repeat frequently.

Who are the most sought after Bin Laden?

On the FBI website, the name of Osama bin Laden was not (yet) erased from the list of "super-refined," the most wanted. But, next to the name of the founder and leader of the al Qaida terrorist network, there is the diction deceased, deceased, as if to say "this we removed him to come back." The killing of Osama, the sheikh of terror, change the map of the fugitives of America (and the world).

Bin Laden and the plots of antiamerikanisti

Piazzale Loreto, 29 April 1945: I was not born yet, but I know what happened and I know that I participated in the celebrations - the barbarians, instinctive, and justified the people - for the murder of Mussolini and the exposure of his body to the crowd. I celebrated the exposure of the body not for personal hatred towards the man Benito Mussolini, as of hatred against the political leader and inventor of a dictatorship and bloody.

September 11 and Osama: from probable to capacity

The end of Osama bin Laden, the officially-stamped by President George O'bush Barack, would close the chapter 11. It will not happen, of course, because it opens more questions than it would dissolve. But it is interesting in several respects. First, a dark story, very dark, can not be closed if its perpetrated by an equally obscure episode.

Second, the impudence of the highest world powers shows that they intend to pass on the story of "likely" (seasoned with the biggest lie, which is silence) to the improbable story. That is, believe they can digest to the world the story that the donkeys fly. We'll see if I can. Third, we hope that America is not represented by the helots dog dancing and celebrating in the streets of New York, we note that the dances for the killing of the enemy in the West were of the same type as those (who have caused the ' outrage throughout the Western mainstream) that followed in some cities in the Arab world, the collapse of the towers.

Elections in the UK, a disaster for Nick Clegg

Not yet final results of local elections and national (Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), but the UK now finds itself with a political landscape changed. Not too well the Labour Party, which, while advancing in England and Wales comes back strongly in Scotland. Edinburgh is a landslide for the Scottish National Party (SNP), Social Democratic and independent since 2007 form a minority government.

Obama and the silence for the innocent

Yesterday Barack Obama paid homage to the 11 victims in silence. A silence full of meaning and importance in days of controversy, accusations and explanations necessary. Under the "survivor tree", the tree survived the collapse of the towers, now there's a wreath that will soon dry up and, since then, really will return to Ground Zero to be the World Trade Center in New York and a wounded city but not tamed.

War is not a term or is done or not done

Wednesday, while the Italian Parliament voted on the mission to Libya, bombs, yes, but in the end, the secretary general of NATO Anders Fogh Rasmussen reminded reporters the three conditions set by the foreign ministers of the Alliance, meeting in Berlin in April, NATO to suspend attacks on Libya, being held from March 20: the suspension of all attacks against rebels and civilians returning to their bases of all military and paramilitary forces loyal to the regime, ensuring that humanitarian aid can be distributed freely and safely.

"That criminal Obama"

"Obama looks like a criminal." So if he came up Ken Livingstone, black sheep (or perhaps red) of the Labour Party, former mayor of London, not new releases to counter, and the forthcoming local elections of 2012 in a race against the classicist-cyclist Boris Johnson. There is no light went mica, Ken the Red.

While the red as Labor Secretary Ed Miliband (Red Ed) praised with statutory responsibility for the world released by bin Laden, echoing David Cameron, he was not. "We were supposed to capture him, he said, and trial. The argument is simple: we are a gangster or western democracy based on rule of law? What happened undermines every principle of law, and Obama makes it look like a criminal (mobster) ".

Osama: torturers on the Range

Toh, who will review: Paul Wolfowitz ... Interviewed by the press correspondents, Maurizio Molinari, that, during the reign George W. Bush, was number two in the Pentagon "neocons" and the first prominent ideologue of the "endless war", says his killing of Osama Bin Laden. It says - it is not clear based on what logic, even more than on the basis of such sources - that the relevant information to reach the big boss of Al Qaeda came from interviews conducted in the prison at Guantanamo Bay.
