Paris condemns "with the utmost force" the bombing of Alexandria

France condemned Saturday "with the utmost force" the attack which struck during the night the Copts of Egypt, the first Christian community in the Middle East, which killed 21 people outside a church in Alexandria. "France reiterates its commitment to respect fundamental freedoms including religious freedom and support to Egyptian authorities in their fight against terrorism," said Foreign Ministry.

For his part, Cardinal Andre Vingt-Trois, president of the Conference of Bishops of France and Bishop referent of Eastern Rite Catholics in France, invited Catholics to pray on Saturday "for all Christians persecuted in the world and for peace ". "In this day of peace, it is particularly painful to see that extremists have attacked Coptic faithful who attended a Mass for the new year," he said in a statement.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak called "Children of Egypt - Coptic and Muslim - to stand together against the forces of terrorism and those who want to harm the homeland security, stability and unity of its children ".
